The Sea of Vapours is a small circular mare near the center of the Moon's visible face. Its northern edges are fringed by mountains, most notable the Apennine range to the northwest, which climb gradually from the floor of the Sea of Vapours to a height of 5,000m or more before falling steeply into the Mare Imbrium.
